About Main Capital Partners

Main Capital is a private equity investor with an exclusive focus on the software sector in the Benelux and Germany. Within this sector, we are the most specialized company in management buyouts and later-stage growth capital. Main Capital has approximately € 150 million under management for investments in mature but growing software companies in the Netherlands and Germany. An experienced team of professionals manages the Private Equity Funds.

In the current portfolio of Main Capital are rapidly growing (SaaS) software companies like artegic, OBI4wan, Axxerion, b+m Informatik, Ymor, Roxit, OnGuard, Sharewire, SecondFloor, EuroSystems/ABIT, Sofon Connexys, Regas, ChainPoint, RVC and TPSC. We also invested in managed hosting provider Denit. Last year, Main Capital sold its majority stake in VisionWaves to the Swedish listed IFS AB and Zetacom was sold to Gilde Healthcare. In addition, Main realized a successful exit of cloud storage company IASO to the US cloud provider GFI Software in 2013. In 2012 Main Capital sold Tedopres to the listed Finnish player Etteplan and Actuera was sold to Waterland Private Equity.

Software industry events

Main Capital Partners organizes various annual events with a focus on the software industry.

1. Main Insight Event

On a yearly basis, Main Capital Partners organizes the Main Insight Event. This is a software industry event in which key topics in the software industry are further discussed and examined by interesting (international) speakers. In 2016 the central theme was ‘Sales Performance Improvement en Sale Effectiveness’. In previous years, among others, the following themes were discussed during the Main Insight event: 'Successful marketing strategies for software companies' in 2015 and ‘Successful international partner and channel strategies for software companies’ in 2014.

Speakers of 2016 were Hayri Culum (Senior Director Benelux Software and Pricing Expert, Simon Kucher), Erik Charles (VP Product Marketing, Xactly), Johan Wolthuis (Directeur Sales & Marketing, Sofon) and Greg Brown (Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), Achievers). This year there were approximately 130 DGA’s and senior managers present on the event, which was held on May 26 at the Hilton in the Hague.

2. Main CTO Day

Annual seminar specifically focused on CTOs and developers of portfolio companies of Main Capital and other invited CTO's. In several sessions, the latest trends and developments are shared. The aim is to stay ahead in the field of technology by learning from each other’s knowledge and experience.


3. Main Software 50

Annual ranking of the most successful independent Dutch software companies. After four successful editions, the fifth edition of Main Software 50 will be launched in 2016. The award ceremony will again take place in Amsterdam. The popularity of the list, number of applying companies and its media attention is growing every year. The objective is to provide more visibility for succesful Dutch software companies and to give the software sector as a whole the attention it deserves.
