How does the ranking work?

The Main Software 50 Nordics aims to strengthen the position of unlisted Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) from the Nordics region.

Criteria for participation Main Software 50 Nordics

  • For the Main Software 50 Nordics, the company must originate and have its headquarters in the Nordics region.
  • The company is independent (not a subsidiary of a larger company) and not a publicly traded company.
  • The company is a product software company that in the last fiscal year generated at least 15% of its total revenue from licensing (and/or SaaS revenue) and maintenance/support, based on its own intellectual property rights.

Composition of the ranking

The ranking is based on hard company data and is verified by an independent research organization.

Once all interested companies have signed up and sent in their company data, all companies are evaluated based on their performance. A unified metrics key is used, wherein the following data is taken into account:

  • Turnover
  • Turnover growth
  • Quality of revenue (recurring vs. one-time)
  • Revenue generated from Cloud/SaaS
  • EBITDA
  • International revenues
  • Revenue generated from partner channel

The companies are then indexed. The 50 highest ranked companies make up the Main Software 50.

We will treat your company data confidentially

The application requires you to fill out a questionnaire. In addition to several questions regarding turnover and FTEs, you will also be asked about the sector in which the software company operates and its growth ambitions. All company data will be treated with the utmost care. The data will never be visible to third parties, except to the audit partner who must guarantee the accuracy of the list.

If the company is included in the Main Software 50 ranking, only a sub-segment with a general description of the company will be published. The remaining information, including financial data, is kept strictly confidential. When figures are published, it is always on an aggregate basis. This means that no identifiable information about an individual company can be derived from the communication (i.e., only averages, totals, etc.).

Independent audit

Software companies are the engine of the digital economy. The Main Software 50 Awards gives deserved recognition to outstanding companies in the industry. The ranking is based on hard company data. The Main Software 50 Awards are an initiative of Main Capital Partners, Europe’s leading software investor.
